  • I’m having the same issue as well. If I find a fix I’ll be sure to post it here.

I’m running Brandoo WordPress on IIS7.5 against a SQL database.

I am having same issue with Revolution Slider and on SQL database with Azure.

    Anyone find a solution?

I am using Project Nami, and it is not an azure way through there setup. If you go here there is a video to deploy it. It will activate Revolution Slider, but there is still some issues of it not creating templates in Revolution Slider or Slides.

    https://projectnami.org/

It does run better than Brandoo, it just SQL server does not work well with certain plugins. Slider plugins at least. There really is no option to get Revolution Slider to work on Azure Websites. I can’t move to another host, because I am with Bizspark free for startups for 3 years, and I have no income to pay for different hosting.

So I am stuck with azure for 2 3/4 years now. This is all that I know on this. I uninstalled Revolution Slider. Pretty much any slider plugin. If it isn’t built into the theme without being a plugin, then it won’t work on SQL server.

I tried contact support for Azure and they told me what I was already doing and what I already said to them I am using SQL server to use it. Left me a link on how to use SQL. My thread was about having to use the credit from Bizspark towards using MySQL 3rd party to pay for bigger size database for WordPress, but the support staff did not read all that I posted at all.

Microsoft is just stupid or their hiring stupid people for their support forums. I won’t go back to those forums. If I do get an income sometime, then I will find another hosting company with Linux and CPanel and MySQL for WordPress.

At least with Project Nami, you won’t get those errors at all, like the OP showed in his post. Oh, and Brandoo is just broken version of WordPress, not that Project Nami isn’t, but at least you get no errors like Brandoo WordPress.

I tried Drupal, and really did not like that it had some massive issues too. Search in Drupal was messed up bad. It looked ugly, and creating pages in Drupal was pain in the ***.

Thanks for mentioning this. I’ll look into this and see what we can do about it in Project Nami. I think this may dovetail with another change we have been brainstorming on.

I think it has to do with most slider plugins, because layerslider doesn’t work either. They will activate, but not create anything. I don’t know if it is just because of SQL Server causing it.

Oh, and I am also using Newspaper theme version 4.0. It comes with Jetpack for WordPress.com. When trying to connect to WordPress.com with credentials it says error when connecting, and I am pretty sure it has something to do with SQL server database too. Seems to me as long as Microsoft has had this database available and probably longer than MySQL, then why is it harder to use than MySQL? It just does not make sense to me that there is more issues with MSSQL or SQL server than MySQL.

Since, I don’t have an income, and Microsoft gave me 3 free years of Bizspark account and able to use $150 a month for the 3 years, they should have better options to use for WordPress or at least make SQL server run right with it.

Oh and don’t tell me to use MySQL on it, because the free option is only 20mb size database, and that would only last one month. The next option is 1 gb upgrade but Bizspark does not give an option to use the credit towards it, it is a pay out of pocket option, and with no income at all, that is no option for me. So I am forced to use SQL server no matter what.

Even if I was working. I would be off Azure in a heart beat. They are expensive. No wonder they have to give a $150 month credit to use.

Been using Azure for about 3 months now.

I’ve just been looking into this and found the answer via another blog post.

Full details can be found here:
    https://www.friendlywebguy.co.uk/post/Fixing-Revolution-Slider-Error-no-update-action-taken!-with-Wordpress-on-MSSQL-Azure.aspx

Short version: Find the translations.php file inside the wp-db-abstration plugin folder, comment out line 391:

    $param = “‘$param'”;

As this is adding extra single quotes and breaking the MSSQL. Update the php file on your site and you can now activate the Revolution Slider plugin.

Not done testing to see if this breaks other database functions, but at worst you can just un-comment it again and upload to as it was before.
