Rewrite & Republish option missing on one post

    I have one post that does not display the Rewrite & Republish option. I checked my trash and cleared all caches. Still no option to Rewrite & Republish.

    I searched the forums and see that this’s a reoccurring issue but no solution has been been shared that I’m aware of other than digging into the database (but no instructions were shared).

    Any ideas to get this issue resolved?

    Hey @mcblake,

    Thank you for using Yoast Duplicate Post and for reaching out!

    I can only think of one possibility when it’s enabled for all posts but when you don’t see the link present for one. Could it be that you have already started an R&R post for the post you are not seeing the link for? Our Rewrite & Republish feature will remove the link to create another draft from the same original post.

    Thanks for your reply. I have looked through all my posts and there’s no other R&R post started or anything in the trash. I also came across another post in my list that does not have the R&R link beside it for a total of 2 out of 32 posts with no R&R link.

    Thank you for you reply and confirmation.

    That’s odd. I do believe that somewhere in the past something went wrong with the latest change/save. Would you be able to look into your database post table and look if there is any with the status dp-rewrite-republish– one coming from the original post where there is no link showing to create a new R&R post.

    Thanks again for attention to this issue. Yes there is a post in database post table with the status dp-rewrite-republish that has -2 appended to it.

    Hey @mcblake,

    If you look at the content of the entry in the DB, please check which post is connected to that one and if you know that that post was actually republished – then you can delete the post with dp-rewrite-republish from your database. This would then make the R&R link on the original post show up, as our plugin only allows to create 1 draft R&R of a post at any given time.

    Hey @mcblake,

    Thank you so much for investigating this together with me.

    I’ve asked the development team, and it looks like we also check for a meta field on the original post. Please have a look if you can find a _dp_has_rewrite_republish_copy for that post ID and if so, delete it too.

    Thank you @jeroenrotty! The issue is resolved by deleting post meta _dp_has_rewrite_republish_copy for that post ID.

    These instructions help me resolve related issue where i was getting the following message when editing a post, but I could not find the duplicate post.

    “A duplicate of this post was made. Please note that any changes you make to this post will be replaced when the duplicated version is republished.”
