I’m just wondering if the original URL is maintained once the updated content publishes. I used this plugin for the first time yesterday and scheduled my clone to publish tomorrow. Then, I noticed there was a new slug on the clone and now I’m nervous that this new URL will overwrite the existing one. I haven’t been able to find anything in the documentation that says one way or the other.

    Thanks!

    Hi @rmaner,
the URL of the original is untouched when the republishing happens, the slug is not overwritten. The copy obviously has its own slug (we have hidden the ways to change it in the editor to avoid confusion, but it’s still there under the hood because it’s mandatory to have one) but it’s discarded when it overwrites the original.
Being able to experiment in a draft and then “merging” the changes back in the original post without taking it from being live or affecting its “reachability” by the search engin is exactly the point of the new Rewrite & Republish feature.
We’ll make sure to update our documentation to make this point more clear.

    Thank you for you question!

That makes total sense, Enrico! I thought this was the case but wanted confirmation.

    Thank you!
