• Hi there,

I’m going crazy trying to figure this out. If anyone can please help with some simple instructions on how to do the following, I’d be extremely grateful.

    1. My multisite is setup on a subdomain (note: not using a subdomain install) eg. blog.mysite.com/wordpress/

    2. I have several blogs in the network, however I’d like one to become my homepage eg. I want “blog.mysite.com/wordpress/coolstuff” to be accessible via “blog.mysite.com”

Is there a way to remove the path /wordpress/coolstuff so that this can work? I’ve tried a million combinations of mod rewrite, and had hopes that WordPress 3.5 would solve this but no dice!

    Many thanks in advance.

    Possibly.

If you have blog.mysite.com/wordpress, you can have that run out of blog.mysite.com on WP 3.5. I don’t know if you can do it post Multisite setup, but I know that I installed one like that, set it up to be it’s own directory pre-Multisite, and it worked fine.

This, though, you would have to switch /coolstuff into your main site:

    Hey Mika,

Thanks for that. I’ve actually attempted to convert the /coolstuff into my main site, however it doesn’t seem to take hold. It was via the config file – changing the site/blog id to #24 (the one for coolstuff).

Is there anything else to this process I’m missing?

https://halfelf.org/ebooks/wordpress-multisite-110/ has directions on page 81 (or 83? I’m blanking, it’s in there under the advanced section) on how to switch your primary site out ?? It’s a pay-what-you-will ebook.
