• I’ve been trying out different recipe formatting plugins for my blog (https://www.snappygourmet.com) and seem to get errors when testing out my recent posts on the Google Rich Snippets Testing Tool (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets). I’ve contacted several authors of the plugins with no luck in getting a response.

    The current plugin I’ve been using is Easy Recipe. Does anyone know anything about the following errors (such as if it’s a user or plugin issue)?

    Errors:

    hcard
    Warning: At least one field must be set for Hcard.
    Warning: Missing required field “name (fn)”.

    Rel
    name = spread
    rel = tag
    url = https://snappygourmet.com/tag/spread/
    Warning: Missing required field “updated”.

    Any help or point in the right direction is greatly appreciated!!!

  • The errors are from badly formed microformatting inherent in Thesis WP themes (as well as many others – including the WP default). The next version of EasyRecipe (3.0 – due out in a few weeks) will have an option to remove badly formed microformatting. If you’re game, you can edit your theme files and remove the “hfeed”, “hentry” and “vcard” class names and that should remove those errors.

    Thank you! Good to know it’s not the recipe plugin because I love it and really didn’t want to switch! Thanks again!
