Rich Text Editor is 5-miles high

    Hi,

    The rich text editor in my wordpress install has suddenly become huge — I have to scroll down 6 or 7 screenfulls to reach the end of it.

    Resizing doesn’t work. I can [drag] the bottom-right corner up to make it a normal size, but whenever I return to the rich text editor (after leaving the page) it reverts to being the size of a football field.

    Do you know what I can do to fix this?

  • What happens if you create a new user and login as that user?

    Okay — I created a new Admin user and logged in as that. And yup, you’re right, the Rich Text Editor is back to normal.

    So what now? Can I fix it for my old Admin user? Or should I just delete the old one and use this new one?

    Oh – cool! Thanks you for. It confirms a theory I’ve had for a while but haven’t been able to confirm. I think this is a corrupt WordPress cookie issue. Try deleting your WordPress cookies on your computer and then log back in again with your usual admin details. If I’m right, a fresh copy of the cookie will be saved – allowing you to once again manipulate that editor pane.

    Thanks. No, deleting all cookies in Internet Explorer 10 has not helped. It’s still 5-miles high for that Admin account… and I get exactly the same problem in Chrome as well!

    Are you sure that you’ve removed all WordPress cookies? It definitely seems to be a cookie issue. If all else fails, you could delete the old admin user and move all of the posts over to the new user and configure that account as your primary one.

    Yes, and I just went in to the actual Internet folders on the harddrive and manually removed them again. Didn’t help.

    So I’ve done as you suggested, and deleted the old Admin account, and things are back to normal again.
