I cannot update the robots.txt file from the tools section of the plugin. It doesn’t add my actions to robots.txt. Also how can I prevent the plugin from managing the robots.txt file? I want to use the robots.txt file I created. How can I do that?

    Active Robots.txt: https://wptreni.com/robots.txt

    I want to change this

    Hi @huseyinkorbalta,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Kindly note that AIOSEO doesn’t generate any robots.txt file for your site. Instead, WordPress itself generates a dynamic robots.txt file which physically doesn’t exist. This means the Robots.txt file is generated by WordPress on the fly. AIOSEO just provides an option to edit the dynamically generated robots.txt by WordPress.

To replace the default robots.txt file, creating a physical robots.txt file on your server’s root directory is enough.

Please try this and let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi?@huseyinkorbalta,

We haven’t heard back from you in a couple of days. I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!

I am having a similar issue (and more). AIOSEO can’t read or write to robots.txt. It says there is a robots.txt and it needs to be deleted, but can’t do it. Although I pasted the preview code in it, and it appears to be being read by google (although google is having issues with other parts). The AIOSEO site analysis reports “Your robots.txt file is missing or unavailable”, when there is one there. False negative?

It says to edit my page and links to the one I use as my static front, but have no idea on the page where to change it. Under the advanced tab. I see where I can click, and not use defaults, but none of those options look like anything I want.

Also, please share your website’s URL in the new Support topic so we can take a closer look at the issue.

    Ali, you said the following:

To replace the default robots.txt file.

This does not work because the AIOSEO plugin shows a red alert saying there is a physical robots.txt file that may conflict with the WordPress dynamic one and to delete the physical one.

    The problem is this:

I tried to use the AIOSEO Robots.txt tool, activated it for customization, but not one “Directive” column entry is changeable.

I tried to change the Directive column from “Allow” to “Disallow” and that does not work, the AIOSEO plugin just reverts it back to what was already there before.

Also, the Directive field boxes have down arrows, indicating there should be a list to see, but there is No list, and typing in the common directive name, like Allow or Disallow, nothing appears.

This problem only exists in the Directive column. I can change the text entries in the other field boxes.
