Role has capabilities not granted

  • Hi,
    I have set the ‘author’ role to allow users to access and edit just the page which they have authored. However they still have the ability to create a new post although this does not show when I select ‘Granted Only’ I see:
    edit_posts
    edit_published_posts
    read

    I need to remove the ability to create a new post.

    Hi Jane,

    WordPress by default links the ability to add and edit posts to the same user capability ‘edit_posts’.

    Pro version includes option to use separate ‘create_’ capability for access to the ‘Add new’ menu item and button.
