    Hi all,

I’m fairly new to wordpress. What I want to set up on my home page is a banner which allows visitors to roll through the newest 5 posts, pretty much like the one at the top of this site: https://isismagazine.org.uk/

Ideally, I’m after a plugin which would just do this for me, if such a thing exists.

Thanks, and I’d really appreciate any help.
    Isaac

  • That’s a slider. Search the plugin repository for “slider”.

Thanks! That’s really helpful. I’m trying out a lot of sliders at the moment, but can’t find any which allow the featured image to be displayed across the entire slider, with the title/extract layed on top. Does anyone know of a slider which would do that?

    Thanks!

Slider pro, but its a premium plugin.

Ah that looks irritatingly ideal – I’m keen to avoid spending money if possible. Is there a reason why a free slider wouldn’t do this?

No, I’m sure you can find a free slider that will do it.

I just recommended a premium one as its coded properly, widely supported and does what you asked.

Free plugins tend to be watered down or lacking in features. Look for nextgen galleries.

I used to use it till the major 4.0 update which was too much for me, so I switched.

Cyclone Slider and some CSS customization can get you close to this.

Tried out cyclone – it didn’t seem a particularly great base to build on, because it doesn’t seem to have any feature for showing recent posts. Might be missing something?

Yet to find a free plugin which works out of the box, or, in fact, even offers to display the featured image.

Just to let everyone know, EasyRotator does the job pretty well and is fantastically easy to use.
