• This plugin has a good deal of potential, but forms management is a very competitive plugin area and there are better options available.

Currently there are too many features that are only available in the Pro version and missing functionality is not being added quickly enough.

The potential is there – it is easy to use and the documentation and support is good – but the development of this plugin needs to be rapidly increased if it is to provide a true alternative to its far more mature rivals.

    Hi @kendallinternet,

    thanks for your feedback.

This plugin has a good deal of potential, but forms management is a very competitive plugin area and there are better options available.
–> What exactly do you mean? It would help me a lot to understand this more in detail. Maybe you have a conflict with a other plugin. If you can sent me more details to support @ buddyforms . com would be great.

Currently there are too many features that are only available in the Pro version and missing functionality is not being added quickly enough.
–> I have talked to other developers on WordCamps and also compare the advertisement with other plugins. Smaller and big once like Yoast SEO. From my feeling and feedback from others I have found a great mix of free and pro and the advertisement.

I’m open for feedback. All basic functions are free and only advanced stuff is pro. You can create, edit and delete posts. Also manage the posts in BuddyPress with the BuddyForms Members extension.

Create Registration forms and contact forms without restrictions.
Please let me know what function you think should be free and I will rethink it.

The potential is there – it is easy to use and the documentation and support is good – but the development of this plugin needs to be rapidly increased if it is to provide a true alternative to its far more mature rivals.

–> I do my best to speed up the process. We have a new version nearly every 2 weeks. What function is missing for you? Please let me know.

I hope this answer helps you. Please let me know if you have any questions left. I like to help.

    Cheers,
    Sven

    Hi Sven,

    Other Options
I mean that users seeking plugins that help with forms have a good selection to choose from. So plugins providing forms functionality must either be huge and incorporate a vast amount of functionality or simply provide the best solution to a much narrower problem. All I’m saying here is that your plugin (for me anyway) is in the middle and therefore there are better solutions.

Pro vs Free & Missing Functionality
I simply think that the balance of features in this plugin is too heavily weighed in favour of the Pro side. Thus I had to spend out a fair bit on the Pro version to test the functionality I required – only to discover it didn’t really solve my problems to my satisfaction. In particular, I was disappointed that a feature I needed had been requested by someone else last year – but it still had not been added.

    Development
I’m not a plugin published myself – though I have written some, I do not make them public. So I fully appreciate the amount of time and effort required to build and support a plugin. As I’ve said above, forms plugins is a highly competitive area and if you are a one-man-band it is going to be very difficult indeed to keep developing a forms plugin as quickly as competitors who have a team of developers working on it full time.

    Constructive Criticism
Sven, I really think Buddyforms is a very good plugin. All I’m trying to say is that it faces huge competition from similar plugins developed by larger organisations – whose plugins are more mature because they have more resources available.

    Cheers,
    Greg
