    Hi
    I am transfering a site from a local server to the remote host, i have used duplicator before and not had a problem. viewing a similar post i have tried reseting permissions on the installer.php file he also mentioned turning Open Base Dir: Off but this doesn’t seem to have worked, the other file is zipped and it doesnt let me change the permissions from 111 should i unzip it?. I have spoken to the web-host who seems to think that something my be wrong with the installer.php file? Any suggestions on what to do next would be appreciated!

    Root DirectoryFail
    Path: /hermes/bosoraweb168/b1017/ipg.hihodesignscom

    Hey Henry,

    The issue needs to be fixed at your host. The plugin is using standard PHP calls. If PHP doesn’t have permissions then it can’t do its job… I would make them work with you (that is why your paying for the service) and tell them it works fine on thousands of other hosts, but for some reason in your particular environment its just not working…

    Cheers~

    Did you get this worked out with them yet? I am trying to install a site for a client that is using Ipage and I am getting the same issues.

    I am having this issue as well, but this on my private server. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Hey Guys,

    Checkout this section on the FAQs I believe it may help with this issue:
    -> Browse to: https://lifeinthegrid.com/duplicator-faq
    -> Find section: “3. Troubleshoot=> Permission”

    These are the best suggestions I have… If your on your own server you should also double check the forums for whatever web-server your running to make sure PHP has the right assess to the location where you are trying to run the script.

    Hope that helps!

    My Mac automatically unzips zip files after download. I originally uploaded the unzipped archive folder and got the same error.

    I re-zipped it, uploaded that archive file and the install worked without the permissions error.

    Thanks for that update @allyenw!

    I’ve had the same issue on my localhost.
    Solved:
    chmod -R 777 *folder with your installer.php and *.zip*
    It’s a risky business. Don’t forget to change the permissions back.

    Thanks for the update @mityakoval!

    Some times these issues can also be solved by setting the files/folders to another owner with the chown command, this will alleviate the need for 777…

    Cheers~
