root directory permissions change back

Under file permissions, My Root directory is 0750, I hit the button to change it to 0755 and it does. Saves and all is ok.
A few days goes by and somehow the root directory is 0750 again.
Any ideas of why or how?
PS: SHouldn’t the root directory ALWAYS be 750 permissions which is more secure anyway?
