I see the Categories section, the Print button, the RSS button, and the iCal button just fine when the browser window and the calendar itself are at full size.

However, when I show the mini calendar for smaller windows, the RSS and iCal buttons disappear.

I’m using the twentyfifteen.css My Calendar theme.

    Please advise?

    Thanks.

Sure. It’s a client site — can you give me an email to send to? (I can’t post the link here.)

All right. I see the issue. When I originally designed the mini calendar, I explicitly set it up to not show the feeds, because in normal use in a sidebar, they were problematic.

Now that people are starting to set up the mini calendar as an alternate calendar in responsive sites, things are changing.

I’ll probably remove that “feature” that eliminated feeds on the mini calendar, because it’s counter-intuitive, but that won’t happen until the next release.

You can easily fix this yourself, if you wish; go to line 1248 of my-calendar-output.php and delete && $format != 'mini'.

Normally, I wouldn’t recommend editing the plug-in code, but I will change this for my next release, so it’ll be fine.

(I haven’t check to verify this will do what you want; it should, but let me know if not.)

    Best,
    Joe

Thanks Joe. Made the change, but once you get to the smaller display size (resizing the browser) the Print button doesn’t fit anymore (it bumps outside/below the bar). And I’m wondering what will happen with the layout once there’s more than the single category we have at the moment? Will you be adjusting that all a bit?

And I wonder if maybe there could be individual controls for which buttons show up? For example, Print may not be needed so much on smaller/mobile displays?

That bottom bar doesn’t go the full width of the calendar at the smaller sizing, either. (FYI/possible tweak.)

For now I left that revision in, and removed the Print button via a media query once the screen size gets to the smaller range. (Definitely better than having the other 2 buttons disappear like they were before.)

    Thanks again!

AH — update — just remembered that (on client request) I’d bumped the Print, RSS, and iCal buttons over to the right (as you probably saw). They thought it was confusing having them in the Categories region. That’s probably part of the problem I indicated with the Print button hopping outside of the layout.

All of the navigation tools are designed to be highly customizable: you can change their order, turn them off, etc.,so it’s almost impossible for me to ensure that any pattern set will work. It pretty much requires that you do some kind of customization if you want to do anything complicated!
