• I recently imported some items from my blog using the Magpie rss packgage. Whereas all the apostrophes were correctly encoded in UTF-8 in the xml description fields as ’, they are not encoded in the <item><title> field where my title contained an apostrophe, it’s not encoded at all, which means that when Magpie translates the page to iso-8559-1 as output, it get munged as a ‘?’.

I suppose I can live with it, but I want to import other WordPress blogs and don’t want this glaring ugly as part of the process.

Anybody else run across this? Is there any reason why this might be that way other than an error in the wp-rss2.php module.

Both versions of rss feeds for WordPress have this problem. The atom feed does not. Just found this out. So, for now, I’ll just skip WordPress rss feeds, and use atom feeds so the bug somewhere between WordPress and Magpie doesn’t ugly up my site.
