My WordPress feed, viewed through my website, displays the Excerpt text associated with my post. e.g. for the ‘Thin Air’ post currently in the feed: “Trees build themselves from the carbon, hydrogen and oxygen of thin air. Can we learn to copy their engineering secrets?”

However, when I view this feed through Google Reader, the excerpt text is ignored, and instead I am seeing the content entered into the main ‘body’ form of the Post.

Unfortunately this means that irrelevant information, designed for rendering within the website code is being displayed in my feed. e.g.:

Does anyone know what the issue might be? I couldn’t easily find an answer elsewhere on these forums. Thanks in advance.

  • You do not have settings for Google Reader in your dashboard right? So it shows full text. But you set the RSS feeds to excerpts in your dashboard settings. If you want it also to show full text, reset it. I do not find this as a problem.

Thanks for the reply, but I don’t understand your message fully.

Which dashboard settings are you referring to?

Dashboard >> Reading where you will find the buttons for RSS where there are two options. One is full text, the other is summary. You can set it there and then save settings.
