• For some reason WP has seen to take it upon itself to fill my RSS 2.0 feed chock full of formatting characters. Take, for example, one my more recent posts:

“99 Problems” may be Jay-Z’s big single right now, but the Kayne West-produced “Lucifer” is my present favorite on The Black Album. The dub/reggae flavor of the track, its brevity and purposeful production, and the juxtaposition of the easy-riding groove with the tense guitar strumming and the pressure of the refrain (“I’m from the murder capital / where we murder for capital”) all make it a sleeper standout. I doubt it’ll make its way to the radio after “99 Problems,” but it deserves its place in any solid summery dubby DJ set – or your iPod

It’s easy to see that I’m getting junk where there should be quotes and apostrophes. What gives?

Ack! My browser renders the formatting codes! Let’s try that excerpt again:

Damnit! Well, the offending RSS feed is at: https://www.al3x.net/feed/rss2/

That’s just prettifying your quotes and apostrophes by making them proper typographic entities. That doesn’t effect anything except display. The reason your feed isn’t validating is because of an unencoded ampersand in your description, which looks like a bug.

BTW I tested against the CVS and I’m not sure why you have an unencoded ampersand in your description, all that is passed through a function which fixes those.

Dunno either. I’m running the latest stable. Should I try the CVS?
