RSS feed loading slow

Get a faster site. Or a better host. There’s not a lot you can do to speed up feed generation, that’s all a matter of server load.

Using WP-Cache will reduce server load for the rest of your site, giving more breathing room for everything else. Might help a bit.

I have a good host, highly recommended. I only have the one site so don’t see how it can be server overload.

What does the WP-Cache do?

WP-Cache caches your WordPress pages so that they don’t have to be generated fresh each time, reducing the load on the database and server. But you don’t want to cache the feed, and it doesn’t by default.

But really, there’s not any other options for why it’s slow. If your feeds are slow, then your server is simply too slow. Whether it’s the database server or the web server, something is a bottleneck there. Feeds are basic, they don’t have any real overhead. WordPress pulls the posts from the database, spits out a feed. Not a lot more to it.
