    Hello,
I’ve just installed wp 2.0.2 and got the site up and running. Clicking the links to content and comments feeds results in error message in both Firefox and IE (shown below). I have not modified any of the code associated with the feeds, not the footer.php file for sure. I’m using the default theme. The site is at https://FreeThinkTank.org

Does anybody have any insight into this issue? It sorta seems like a a browser issue, but I can subscribe to other blogs’ feeds. I get the same error at https://www.mckeeth.org/ which uses a different theme.

Firefox: Firefox doesn’t know how to open this address because the protocol (feed) isn’t associated with any program.

IE: The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

    Thanks,
    -mikeT

  • Honestly? just remove the “feed:” prefix in your theme’s links.

Some dedicated feed readers like it, but as far as I know, they all like “normal” uri’s as well so I’m not sure it buys you anything.

    Thanks for the tip, Handy.

This was a case of user error. I was expecting that clicking the link would do something good, like subscribing to the feed (i.e. adding a Firefox Live Bookmark).

In fact, the correct thing to do in Firefox is to
    1. Right Click on the feed link.
    2. Copy link location.
    3. Bookmarks – Manage Bookmarks
    4. File – New Live Bookmark
    5. Paste the copied link into the Feed Location box.

    Seems terribly obvious now.

The next step will be to get the Live Bookmark icon working in the status bar.

    Thanks again,
    -mikeT

Your feeds are all fine and functioning normally ??

theborg, believe me, it’s not terribly obvious. I had been having the same head-scratching trying to figure out how the RSS link was supposed to work in WP. Thanks for your play by play on how to use it.
