RSS feed returns 404 error

    After many years of using FeedBurner (which has been discontinued), I’ve reverted back to using my native default WordPress feed. But am getting 404 errors when accessing my main content feed here https://www.thinkingnutrition.com.au/feed or my comments feed here https://www.thinkingnutrition.com.au/comments/feed/

    But I can get RSS feeds for any of my categories strangely enough such as this example https://www.thinkingnutrition.com.au/category/child-health/feed/

    I’m using Genesis framework 3.4.0 with a child theme Magazine Pro

    Here’s the troubleshooting I’ve done so far.

    1. Removed all redirects that were in the site that were directing the native feed to FeedBurner which have been in place for many years
    2. Deactivated all plugins and changed to the generic WordPress 2023 theme
    3. Refreshed my permalinks (which are set on post name)
    4. Checked my .htaccess file and it just has the standard text in it

    Am really at a loss what to try next or what has caused this!

  • You have LiteSpeed running as an optimisation service on the server. Can you deactivate it and rule it out as the cause? If not, try moving the project to a server without LiteSpeed – if the feeds work then, it is definitely due to LiteSpeed.

    Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I just flushed the LiteSpeed cache and then disabled it, but the problem still exists.

    Strange. You have already tried deactivating all plugins. Have you also checked whether you have mu-plugins? They should be in the wp-content/mu-plugins directory.

    Further thoughts:
    Is there anything in wp-config.php that doesn’t belong there?
    Is there anything unusual in the wp-admin under Tools > Site Health?

    Thank you again for the reply. I don’t even have a mu-plugin folder in wp-content.

    I’m afraid I may not be the best at seeing if there is something in wp-config-php that doesn’t belong there. I tried to paste the content into this message, but was a mess so have linked to it in the text document here [removed by moderator]

    As for site health, there is just one issue related to JetPack boost for an outdated critical CSS that is related to a plugin – I can make that go away if I disable the plugin, but of course, that doesn’t fix the original issue.

    Caution! You have revealed your database access data in the link. I would recommend that you remove the link immediately and at least change the database password.

    But I can’t see anything conspicuous in the file either.

    Maybe someone else here has an idea.

    You’ve obviously resolved this. Since I have the same problem, can you describe what you did please?

    Hi. It took a LOT of playing with, but finally resolved it to a plugin conflict, but only discovered it by chance as had to go through several steps of deactivating them all, changing themses, and then slowly acvitiviting them one by then – I believe it may have had something to do with an optimising or minimfying option that was available in some of the plugins as the RSS problem came back a few times and I had to repeat the whole process from scratch – it’s working and stable now and I’m leaving my settings as they are!
