RSS Feed working, then not. Don’t know what I did

I added an RSS Icon widget to my blog, tested it and it brought up the select reader box as expected. I also tried is as a search from my reader and it found the blog. I subsequently made a few template changes which I found out later broke the Subscribe to Feed link. Now instead of bringing up a “choose reader” box, it displays the feed itself. My reader also can’t automatically find the feed any longer. Could someone direct to which file I may have screwed up to have caused this? I did try disabling “pretty” permalinks but that did not solve the issue. Any assistance is appreciated.
