RSS Feeds – Where to upload

I am new to RSS and would like to know if I could upload RSS of my blog site to various blog directories, search engines etc. Can someone point list the names of the sites I could upload RSS feeds?

Also, if someone could elaborate if uploading the RSS would be a manual process or can it be automated?
