RSS feeds won’t show whole posts.

  • Can someone help me understand why WordPress won’t show the entire post in an RSS feed? I have selected Settings > Reading > For Each Article in a feed show FULL TEXT.

    But it’s still just a summary. To make things more strange the current feed for a new post is showing a link to a video that I DIDN’T place in the article. I linked to a video and that’s showing up as a direct link in the bottom of the feed. All the help topics on this subject that I’ve read just say to check your Reading setting, which I’ve done.

    Thanks alism, but I am not using excerpts at all …

    There’s nothing wrong with your RSS feed. If you check the source of the RSS feed, it contains the full text of your posts. What the RSS readers show is another matter entirely and beyond the control of WordPress.

    As for the video, it’s the link you placed in “Autodesk Smoke on the Mac: A video from fxguide”.

    I guess I still don’t understand why it behaves that way. I’ve tried 3 readers and they all just see the summary. It seems like it was a year or so ago that the feeds just started showing the summary only.

    How do you check the source of the RSS feed?

    As for the video … that was a video i LINKED TO in a sentence. I didn’t post the link like it is showing up there so it seems strange that it would show up like that. I don’t see how the reader would be extracting that link and displaying it like that.

    Select the RSS feed in your web browser (I use Firefox), then when the feed is displayed, right click and select View Page Source.
