RSS for Status Updates and Hooks

Is there any support for separate RSS feed for Status Updates, that does not include regular blog post like updates. Also does the p2 theme have special hooks to modify the UI where the status updates show up? Basically what i need is that hook code should get triggered only in case it is a status update.
