RSS Image Generation

    Hey, I’ve been working on a script dealing with RSS/RDF feeds, and I’ve created a pretty easy interface for it. You can check it out here – https://s92205215.onlinehome.us/projects/deviantRSS/make.php
    basically what it does is parse a RSS/RDF feed and creates an image according to it. Since it can be added to any page, it’s pretty nice for people with limited scripting capabilities, and it’s incredibly easy to use. I see it as an option to plain text links to other sites…
    Any opinions? I’m not a big blogger, so I need some insight from people who know about this stuff.

    real cool stuff…
    but i dont think there will be any way to get the links to the posts on the image! ??
    but is pretty cool none the less…

    Sushubh: Image maps would provide an easy way to get the individual links…

    yap they would. but the image is generated dynamically and the links would eventually change with every addition. ??
    a single link to the blog on the complete image would work though…

    I updated it with a nicer form and the option to either specify a link or automatically pull one from the RSS.

    Great work, just curious if you used all the builtin GD functions to accomplish this? I did some work with GD a while back, and I’m not embarassed to admit, it was more than a headache getting started.

    ChuckG – Yeah, it uses all built-in functions, except for a big style (which is beta) which uses a library to draw textboxes. (That’s what I don’t like about GD, it’s impossible to format text well.) GD is kinda tough getting started, but after you’ve got the hang of it, it’s very useful
    Allusion – haha I dunno, it was the only feed I could think of at the time. maybe I’ll diversify.
