• I’ve been trying to fix this issue for a while, but don’t know whether I’ve been barking up the wrong tree.

For a while now, I’ve seemingly had an issue with my RSS feed where for no apparent reason, a post keeps repeating in the feed. Here’s an example:

In the past week I may have written 5 articles, named 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. I check the RSS feed for my site (using Bloglines) and all 5 show up. Next time I log into my Bloglines account, I notice that there’s a “new” article on my feed. I take a look and it looks like article “3” sent itself as new again. I hadn’t edited it, so I don’t know what’s going on.

The next week, I write 5 more articles, named A, B, C, D and E. I check the RSS feed at the end of the week and notice that six articles show up: A, B, C, D, E, and 3. A few days later, after not having written any entries, I notice 3 new articles on my queue: B, C, and 3. I haven’t edited any of these articles, but they showed up anyway.

This has been going on for months. I have tried doing such things as re-posting the article in another entry and deleting the original and re-dating the original, but it seems as if the only thing which works is to unpublish the article completely. Obviously, I’m not a big fan of this, since it means I have a bunch of completed, edited content which will never see the light of day.

What I’d like to know is whether (1) anyone has had a problem like this, (2) anyone knows what I should be looking at, and (3) whether this may be a bloglines-specific issue. (I tried Rojo, but I haven’t seen the problem there. Then again, I may not have been using it for long enough.)

I’d really like to get my articles back up and would rather not lose any more content to some looping RSS functionality.

I’m seeing the same thing. Bloglines will have random posts show up as new again or edited when I haven’t touched them. I tried Google Reader, but I don’t think it accepts edited posts, because I actually did go back and edit a post, and it never showed again in there. I downloaded something called RSS Reader just to try a different reader, and it showed two completely different random old posts whereas Bloglines showed a single random old post.

What could be happening to trigger a post to be seen as new or edited when I haven’t touched them?

If anybody wants to see it for themselves, you can find my feed here: https://feeds.feedburner.com/needcoffee

And this was happening before I moved the feed to Feedburner. So I’m without a clue.

Was this resolved? I am having the same issue at https://www.project37.net with the post entitled “D’oh” – keeps showing up as new in Bloglines.
