RSS Widget Button, Whats the point?

  • I’m new so this may be a stupid question, but I dont understand the point of aN RSS feed button on a wordpress site? All it does is take you to XML code? If I visited a site and wanted to use RSS to read their new content, i’d just type the address into an rss reader and then all the info comes up. So whats the point in the RSS button? Thanks

    I think i’ve figured it out. I was using chrome so the XML was just displayed. I’ve now added the chrome RSS extension to the browser and everything works fine when the button is pressed, allowing me to choose which program I use for the RSS feed.
