RSS Widget: List Won’t Update

  • I added an RSS Widget to my test WP 2.2 installation. It does display the external articles, but the list is frozen – i.e. won’t change from day to day. For those interested, the feed url is this: https://www.medworm.com/rss/userss.php?qu=PEDIATRICS&news=on.
    Am I missing something? Do I need to do / install / activate something extra for RSS Widget to periodically refresh the list of articles fed from the external site?

  • That’s a bug. The KB Advanced RSS widget doesn’t have it (although it also has additional features that you might not want). Click on “extend” at the top of the screen.

    (I know, it’s shameless to tout plugins that you wrote yourself…)

    Hmm… what kind of bug I wonder? I have another instance of RSS widget that refreshes its content just fine (the feed url is: https://www.topix.net/rss/search/article?q=pediatrics). Could it be something wrong with the source of the first RSS feed (see the url two posts above)?

    Anyway… I will try your KB Advanced RSS widget, thanks…

    The bottom line:

    The KB Advanced RSS widget does work on url https://www.medworm.com/rss/userss.php?qu=PEDIATRICS&news=on with all default settings. THANKS!

    However, the WP 2.2’s standard RSS widget does not work on the above url (the list of displayed links stalls). Somebody might want to look into the code wp-includes\rss.php code…

    Added Ticket #4453 to the bug tracker.

    Any follow up on this issue? My RSS native widget doesn’t update it’s list either.
