• My feed seems stuck on “summery” instead of “full feed.” I change it over in the options, wait half and hour, and then BOOM, it’s set itself back to “summery!” I don’t get it and it’s annoying me very much, as I refuse to read partial feeds and I don’t wish to subject my readers to something I hate very much!

  • Are you saying that you the parameter actually changes back to summary in the option screen? If so, I’m not sure what would be causing that, sorry.

If you mean the parameter changes but you still only get the summary in the feed, then maybe it is the more tag. If you use the more tag in your posts (so only everything up to the more tag shows on your front page), your feeds will chop entries at the same point.

If the more tag is the problem, there are plugins which can fix this, including one I wrote called DualFeeds. It actually gives you full post feed and a summary feed (so the users can make their own choice), but the default one is the full post feed.

If you want to check it out, the url is https://www.scratch99.com/wordpress-plugin-dualfeeds/

Yep, that’s exactly what’s happening. I don’t use the “more” tags in my posts, so I know it’s not that.

Are any other settings not working?

When you click Update Options, does the “! Options Saved” message come up? If so, the new value should have been put into the db.

I guess the next thing to do would be to check the db. Do you have access to it (ie through CPanel’s and phpMyAdmin)

If so, have a look at the wp_options table and find the rss_use_excerpt row. If the option_value is 0, then it’s set to full post, if it’s 1 then it’s set to summary.

I just noticed another field called option_can_override. Its set to Y for me. I changed it to N, to see if that prevented the parameter from updating, but it had no effect.

I had this problem earlier, but it was because my feedburner feed url had a “/rss” at the end. Picture of problem for me.
My feed is working good now Glimmerick.
