    Hello,
I’m not sure if the RSVP form just has a confusing UI or if my “Going” button is actually malfunctioning on this site.

    The issue:
The button to open the RSVP form says “Going” and has a check mark, which makes it look as if you’ve already RSVP’d. If I were a regular user, I wouldn’t think to click it – I would assume it meant I was already RSVP’d.

    However…
I see that the check mark is an SVG with multiple polyline points and transform: translate and masks and fills… with all that jazz, I’m assuming that check mark is supposed to DO SOMETHING? If so, what is it supposed to do?
On this site, it looks same before, during, and after RSVP (check mark might SLIGHTLY change color). Here’s a screenshot collage of before/during/after RSVP’ing https://snag.gy/kCXi13.jpg

Before I bother deactivating plugins and changing themes to test, I just want to know – is this how this button is supposed to look/function? Check mark before, during, and after RSVP?

I searched for several hours and couldn’t find any examples that have a “Going” button. Also, there’s nothing in the Themer Documentation and no references in rsvp.php to “Going”, or “gettext”, so I can’t even find where the functionality of this button is coming from.

I’ve tried switching Event Calendar Display from Skeleton, to Fully Styles, to Tribe Styles – no difference.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

  • Hi @abuzon!

Thank you very much for your feedback!

Your website doesn’t have a problem; at least, I also have the same behavior on my local website. I don’t know if this was intended, but for now, this button has a check mark before, during, and after RSVP. I’m going to talk with our strategists and developers to know if this is a bug or if this is the way it is supposed to look/function.

    I’ll let you know,

    Cheers,
    Jeremy

@jeremy80 Thank you! I’m so glad you see what I’m talking about and actually took the time to understand – that’s rare and I REALLY appreciate it!

While my client doesn’t want or need a “Not Going” option, we’re just going to use the option for “Not Going” for the time being, until that “Going” button is a little more intuitive and the RSVP process becomes self-explanatory.

Thank you again and I look forward to the fix.

    Hi @abuzon!

    You’re welcome ??

I had a chat with our strategists, and it appears the RSVP block is on our list to revisit again in the near future. It’s definitely a hard one to find a middle ground between what customers are looking for and remaining realistic with taking in an RSVP.

What you’re seeing here is by design and was improved on from what it was prior. I don’t have a timeline of when we’ll be able to revisit it from Design and then when we can get it into development though (just being realistic with our timelines and current items on our roadmap).

Thank you for your patience and understanding ??

    Have a nice day!

Thanks for the update @jeremy80! I don’t understand why they went through all that crazy work with masks and transform CSS and custom SVG points for a regular old check mark!?!? It’s just so strange!
They should just kill all that bulk and use a Unicode check mark or something!

I ended up customizing the single event template with Beaver Themer, which apparently changes the RSVP box completely anyway so it’s a non-issue for me, but for the love of usability and good UI, I hope they enact a simple fix, like hiding it until RSVP is complete, or hiding it unless you activate the “not going” choice.

Thanks again for lending an ear!

Once again, thank you very much for your feedback, @abuzon ??
That kind of remarks really helps us improve our products.

While our strategists and designers will think about what the best approach for this problem is, I’m glad you could find a workaround with Beaver Themer!

    Have a nice day,
    Jeremy
