RSVP Plugin feature suggestions
-
Hi Mike,
I am building a WordPress wedding website for me and my fiancée. Your plugin is great! Exactly what we needed to manage our guest list. I read over the readme.txt and had a few features suggestions after playing with the plugin for a bit:
1. Currently, the email notifications just say “John Doe has submitted their rsvp”. It would be nice to customize this with all the RSVP info in the email. The reason is if something was to happen to the website and I lost the data, I would at least have a copy of the RSVP in my email I can reference. Another reason is because some of family members want to keep track of guests to help us out, but I don’t want to give them WordPress logins because they are not that tech savvy. It’s easier to setup an email address like [email protected] and have that forward to all our family members.
2. Email the admin whenever someone changes their existing reservation and have the email say “John Doe has changed xxxxx to xxxxx on his reservation” so we know exactly what was changed. This keeps us in the loop for any last minute changes by a guest. Right now it just sends the same email as the “New RSVP Submission” when changes are made.
3. If someone edits their existing reservation and had RSVPed for someone else too, they can’t edit the other person’s details anymore. It just says “The following people associated with you have already registered” with no option to edit. So let’s say if a father had RSVPed for his whole family and later finds out his child can’t make the wedding because of a school function, he can’t go back in and remove the child’s reservation.
4. Edit the Admin GUI to show or hide columns for custom questions so we can see answers easily at a glance. Right now the only way I have been able to find to see the answers is to Export the guest list and view the csv or click on each guest in the Admin GUI. For us, there are 3 custom questions that I am asking which are key pieces of info because our guests are coming from multiple cities. It really helps our families identify the guest and gets their latest contact info for following up:
Email Address
Phone Number
Home Address5. Have the option to disable asking custom questions to associated guests. The reason is let’s say we invited a father, mother, and 3 kids. If the father was the one doing the RSVP, he would have to type in the same email, phone number, and home address for each of one of his family members that have been invited.
