Applying all the settings manually via the WordPress dashboard appears okay and the ‘security strength meter’ updates as each item is added, however the .htaccess file remains untouched.

    File permissions are okay
Importing setting to AIOS didn’t apply
Adding settings manually to .htaccess file appear to work, but plugin doesn’t update in WordPress

Is there anything else that I might try to get this working? I’ve never had this issue on all the other sites that we use the plugin on.

    Thanks
    Ian

Hi, what happens if you try to save your WordPress Permalinks settings? For example create a backup copy of your .htaccess file then delete the .htaccess file. Now save your permalinks settings. Is the .htaccess file created for you?

No change unfortunately. The htaccess is recreated okay but importing or adding the settings via the WP dashboard doesn’t update the new file.

There’s a 2nd WordPress instance running in its own folder, it also has the same issue. The htaccess doesn’t update

    okay here’s the fix.

    1. backup the .htaccess as you said
    2. remove the plugin
    3. update permalinks to generate new .htaccess
    4. install the plugin
    5. click NO when asked to use previous settings
    6. manually go through and update all settings to have max security
    7. check htaccess has updated
    8. export settings and import to other sites

not sure of the cause, but the above seemed to fix everything.

    appreciate the support.

Hi, I am to hear you solved your issue. Just one question was it your exporting and importing into another site that caused the issue you were experiencing?
