On my dashboard it says, “The last rules update for the Wordfence Web Application Firewall was unsuccessful. The last successful update check was April 11, 2019 11:47 pm, so this site may be missing new rules added since then. You may wait for the next automatic attempt at June 4, 2019 8:27 pm or try to Manually Update by clicking the “Manually Refresh Rules” button below the Rules list.”

However, when I try to manually refresh, a pop-up appears with the following error message: “No rules were updated. Please verify your website can reach the Wordfence servers.”

    I’m using Wordfence 7.3.2 and WordPress 5.2.1.

Last week I tried deleting the rules.php as suggested in this post (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/rules-update-failing/), but the rules have not yet re-populated.

    Hi @laurens4,

I would like to have a look at your Wordfence diagnostics report. Please go to the top of the “Diagnostics” tab on the Wordfence “Tools” page. There will be a “SEND REPORT BY EMAIL” button to send the diagnostics report. Enter wftest [at] wordfence [dot] com as the email and @laurens4 as the forum username please.

Once you have emailed me the diagnostics report can you reply here to let me know that it has been sent. This is important in the unlikely event that your installation of WordPress is having an issue with sending mail.

    Thank you.

Hello @wfphil, I sent the diagnostic report 5 days ago. When do you think I’ll receive a response regarding how to repair the rules update error?

    Thank you.

    Hi @laurens4

Thank you for sending the report.

Can you ask your hosting provider to install the cURL extension for PHP on the server and see if that resolves it.
