    Hi,

We use Wordfence on our multi-multi-network and have been noticing the following message in our network admin dashboard: https://smile.d.pr/nJXCyn

We know that we have issues on our networks with WP-cron, so we recently began running our own custom cron every 5 minutes. Included in our cron config is a job that runs the following two Wordfence cron hooks:

    – wordfence_daily_cron
    – wordfence_daily_autoupdate

    https://smile.d.pr/ztLtNv

The new custom cron config has resolved cron issues with other plugins, so we’re confident it is running, but we’re still seeing the warning message from Wordfence.

Can you help us figure out how to get the Wordfence rules updates running regularly? Is the rules update performed in a different cron hook?

    Thanks very much,
    Chelsey

    Hello, @chelseycontier

Thanks for writing in — I’ll be happy to give you a hand.

Can you please first go into wp-content/wflogs and take note of the rules.php file’s time and date?

After that, go to the back end of the site and go into Wordfence > Firewall > All Firewall Options and underneath the Rules section, click Manually Refresh Rules.

Head back to the wflogs folder and check the time and date on the rules.php to see if it updated.

If it did not, make a complete backup of the wflogs folder locally, and then delete the one on the site. It will regenerate on the next hit to the site. Check then to see if the rules.php file is generating and is populated.

If there are still issues at that point, please send over diagnostics via Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics to wftest @ wordfence . com — please enter your forum username there in the 2nd field.

    Thanks,
    Scott
