• Hi there and merry christmas :D,
I have just packaged a new version of rumgallery, with a more “correct” integration into wp-admin, easier installation, settings edited in the backend, and alot of bugfixes.
    Find instructions and more here.
Example galleries can be found here.
Feel free to give any ideas or other kind of feedback.

  • Dan, i’m not sure where to install the files. Your installation instructions refer to a linux comand to extract the files from the WP root. Not having shell access and using a windowz machine to extract/ upload the files, i’m a bit stuck.

    I’ve tried WP root, wp-content/plugins & wp-content/plugins/gallery

    Help!

hmmm – it seems that there are 3 gallery.php files [I bodged the extraction using winace]

    gallery.php goes into the root
    dir.gif goes into wp-images
    gallery.php[2] goes into wp-content/plugins/
the rest of the files [including gallery.php[3]] go into wp-content/plugins/RumGallery/

[still not working/ appearing on plugin page]

    Hi Mark,

I have made a zip archive you can try on windows: https://rummanddan.dk/files/RumGallery-0.02.zip

Try to extract this archive in your wordpress root. ??

I’m using WP 1.22 and I’ve been installed rumgallery plugin with WordPress 1.2 hack. But when I finished the installation and tried to upload picture, it displayed like this:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagecreatetruecolor() in /z2/vjbobo/public_html/wp-content/plugins/gallery.php on line 505
Anyone could tell me how to solve this problem?

Then your webservers compile of php doesnt support GD (2) the newer versions of php have it bundled with the source…

Superb! Thanks for the zipped version Dan – That works perfectly [no more guessing ;)]

    Awesome gallery plug-in!
I want to be able to click an image and see it in its original size… Maybe an id??a?
And to be able to add comments to the pics would also be great!

Wow again! ….It took a while for me to work out how to actually SEE the gallery – but then I looked at yours and realised that I just needed to call the gallery.php file at the root of my site ??

That really is amazing! It’s so simple I can delegate the task of uploading picture sets! Automatically re-sizing and creating thumbnails, and creating the whole thing for you. I’m gob-smacked – never seen anything like it before!

It almost fits with my template too – but as there are a couple of includes I need to tweak the gallery page to suit.

One suggestion – It’d be perfect for me if the larger picture also linked to the raw file – size to fit an 800×600 screen – as some of my visitors prefer to see that. I’ve seen it done nicely at seriocomics site [ https://www.seriocomic.com/imagery/ ] – actually he breaks out to a new window for this – so preserving the original site theme.

    Thanks a million! ??

    Dan stated on his site:

“Glad you like it mark, if you look in settings therea€?s a checkbox for a€?save originala€?, even though its not implemented yet, it is the same as you described as I intend to develop with it.”

[hope you don’t mind me quoting you Dan]

Don’t mind at all Mark ??

    Dan,

Do you have the 1.2 hack available in a zip?

    Thanks

    Surely bjohnson,

    here it is ??

The gallery is not intended to be working with the “old” WP. I havent even tried it for the latest release, as i upgraded all the blogs i use myself to the 1.5+ dev release. Let me know how it works ??

Let us know when you have the ‘save original’ feature imlemented wont you Dan ??

    I was wondering:

Would it be possible to do batch imports – I can envisage it getting a little tedious having to upload all files individually??

Would it be possible to fetch more information about the image from the exif information within the file? I have an excellent utility I use together with gallery that pulls off such detail, so I know it’s there, just not how to get at it ??
The utility is called set name to time and can be found here: https://www.storcksoftware.com/setnametotime/

Mark about batch imports that’s on the drawing board… Havent quite found the best solution yet…

It would either be some ftp’ing images, and then some sort of import in the backend, or it would be upload one large zip file with images, that would be extracted and imported on the server. Dont know which its gonna be (or maybe both methods, could be implemented).

The exif stuff havent i looked into, but i know the functionallity is there, that shouldnt be too much of a problem to implement.

    Dan,

The hack worked great. I have it running on my WP 1.2.1 site now.

Everything is just place holders now, today I’ll be designing everything and making it look nice.

Everything seems to be working ??

    Thanks
    Bill
