I’m hoping to run this plugin on my staging site, but I’m getting an error when I do:

Skipped Attachment ID 24148 (Liberator Decor Throe -- wet!): The fullsize image file cannot be found in your uploads directory at 2012/03/liberator-decor-throe-wet.jpg. Without it, new thumbnail images can't be generated.

The file has not moved, but the staging site is password protected and therefore not publicly visible, which may be the issue. But is there any way around this? Would be really helpful fo me to be able to use the plugin while working on my staging site.

  • Hi Epiphora,

Some additional information would help sorting this out.

Does it happen only with that picture? Have you checked for correct permissions on the directory/file? Where do you see the mentioned error (admin/post layout/logs)?

No, it happens with all photos UNLESS they have been uploaded recently. That’s the error in the WordPress dashboard when I try to run the plugin. Permissions have not changed, aside from the password-protected staging site.

    Hi Epiphora,

If it’s working with recent uploads I’d suggest pick one of the failing pictures and download it (open the picture URL in a new tab and save it), then upload it again as a replacement of the same picture.

If that works it might help you figure out what’s happening. Sadly there’s not much more I can tell from here as this behavior has not been reported before. I’ll leave a couple of questions that might help you dig further into the issue:

Does it work on the production site? Does it work if you remove the password protection? Where are you hosting your site? Does your hosting actually host your files or is it a remote filesystem?

Is the picture accessible from the browser? Can you go through the filesystem and see the file and if the file has any content?
