• Hello,

I am installing a fresh wp installation on its own directory instead of domain folder (ie on _wp instead of on sitename.com, following this guide https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory). Everything works ok on single site install.

After this works, I move on to setting up multisite (following this manual https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Create_A_Network), after step 4 (changed both htaccess in _wp and sitename.com, also wp-config), I logout, and when i try to login it says Error establishing a database connection.

I have done multisite installation before, never have any problem. This one got me pulling hair. if i define(‘MULTISITE’, false); everything works again. tables are there, connection are ok. but if i enable multisite, it always says Error establishing a database connection.

    Please help.

What is interesting is that on that error page it says : Could not find site domain.com/_wp. Searched for table wp_blogs in database wp_db. Is that right?

on wp_blogs the only entry i see is domain = hosting.com, path = /domain.com/, no mention of domain.com/_wp

    really confusing

I’m having the same issue. It works fine when I setup multisite on my localhost test install with wamp on my laptop but not when I try to implement it live on godaddy. ARGHHHHHHHH!

step 4 (changed both htaccess in _wp and sitename.com, also wp-config),

Can you share the .htaccess in sitename.com? There SHOULD NOT be one in _wp.

Also what did you add to your wp-config?
