Russian Spam Classiffieds

Hi! Sorry – I’m not part of support but another user with the same problem. I’m curious, do you have the captcha option added to your site? I’m just wondering if the spam is occurring even with captcha installed?

Right now I’m getting Russian spam too. When I delete it, more spam is posted within seconds!

I found your email address on your website – I’ll email you a solution. I don’t think the author will appreciate it ha ha, so I won’t make it public. It’s at least working for me now, but I will say yes, it seems a captcha does the trick!

Unfortunately, the spambots are getting smarter, and sometimes they can now get past the 3 step Ad publication form.

Please check the “SPAM Submissions” section in the blog post here https://wpadverts.com/blog/wpadverts-1-5-4-file-upload-progress/ you will find there information on how to stop the spam.

@reaxion (and anyone with the same issue) i am not sure what is your website URL, but when logged out, do a search for “adverts_add” on your site in the frontend.

For example, if your website URL is https://example.com/ then append to it ?s=adverts_add, like this https://example.com/?s=adverts_add.

Check the results this search will return and if you have there a page with the [adverts_add] shortcode available to anyone then you need to fix it with one of the suggestions from the article linked above.

As you suggested i had an unattended page with the [adverts_add] shrotcode. Got rid of it and havent received any spam ads since then.

here https://kitabcenter.com/?s=adverts_add you can see that there is one page with [adverts_add] available on your site, specifically https://kitabcenter.com/adverts/add/ trash this page, activate WPAdverts and see if you will receive any new spam submissions.

If you will not then you can restore it but allow only for example logged-in users to submit ads, you can do that by editing the page https://kitabcenter.com/adverts/add/ from wp-admin / Pages panel and in the content replacing [adverts_add] with [adverts_add requires="read"].

At the bottom, you will find two snippets that will help you fight spam in the [adverts_add] form.

After some testing, if effective this will be integrated into WPAdverts core – i think it will be in about two weeks.

If you will install any of the snippets please let me know in the comments if it works for you?

BTW. One other method is to stop the spam submissions before even they will even reach your website, you can do that with a plugin like WordFence (i did not test it yet but their firewall looks promising).

after observing 2 days, spam posts issue has been solved but still there is bombard of new register user from the same bots. after every five i get new user register
like [email protected].
another problem which I am facing now is login, a red box appears which looks so weird, whenever new user lands on login page to login, they consider it as untrust worthy website. space to fillin is too far. it needs to improve.
with the same setting it is impossible to login on app.
any suggestion to fix it??

1. the registration spam is coming via the default wp-login.php page, the easiest way to stop it would be to add the reCAPTCHA to WP registration/login page https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/advanced-nocaptcha-recaptcha/

2. as for the red message on site, right now it is not really possible to change it i am afraid, however you can use some third-party access control plugin like https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/content-control/ it will allow you to display a custom message to not logged in users.
