    Hey Lynton,

I am just starting a new thread before replying so that other users with the same problem can follow up on this issue.

I got your message saying that the ajax request was not going through on safari 5.* when you tested it on your sister’s computer because of a missing js class.
Question : can you manage to use another js class that would be compatible with all browsers in an upcoming update of the plugin? I don’t mean for this to become a burden for you but as Safari is a widely used browser, making the plugin compatible would benefit you as well as us. If that would become a request requiring a quote from you, let me know so that we might discuss it.

Furthermore, following up on this, I tested it on another computer which is recent, on Mac OSX 10.9.5 (compatible with newest browsers updates) with the latest available version of all browsers. Here are the results :
    – On Firefox 34.0.5 :
The plugin does not work : it shows, but when clicking on the start or next button, it is impossible to move to the next step of the workflow, just like on iPhone. (Contrarily to old Firefox 33.0.2 on old Mac OSX 10.6.8 where it works normally).
    – On Safari 7.1.2 :
Same result : The plugin does not work : it shows, but when clicking on the start or next button, it is impossible to move to the next step of the workflow, just like on iPhone. (difference with Safari 5.*, this time the ajax request comes through, but the other problem appears).
    – On Chrome 39.0.2171.95 :
    Works normally.

I really would like to be able to use this plugin, so let me know if this can be worked out.

    Thank you,

    Best,

    Marie

Hi Marie, thanks again for more invaluable information.

The “next” button problem on IOS / MacOS – firefox appears to be a major problem so I will look at fixing this asap.

The missing class issue with safari < 6.0 though I probably will not be able to fix, but as this is an old browser and there is a workaround by using chrome I am not as worried about.

I am away at the moment but will have a look more closely when I get back, the fact that it also happens on a mac on firefox will make it easier to debug the issue (as opposed to debugging on a phone.)

    stay tuned ??

I have a fix now that I have tested on ios. I no longer have access to the Mac but believe it should also work for that.

I have a couple of other things to finish off before the next release but it won’t be too far away now. Its installed on the wtf-fu.com website demo if you want to test it or just wait a few more days for the next release. Thanks again for your detailed info which helped a lot to isolate the issue.

    Hello Lynton,

I am so sorry for replying so late but first I was away for the end of the holidays, and then the attacks in Paris have made it difficult to focus on work for a few days… Anyway, I am back at it now, except that there is something really weird happening : now I cannot move on to the next or previous steps of the workflows in chrome or firefox on my mac laptop, although it was working totally fine until I last tested it around christmas. I haven’t upgraded wordpress nor my browsers versions, or installed a new plugin. I really do not get what is happening and I can’t navigate through any of the workflows I have created anymore. Can you help? (I can give you access if needed)

    Best,

    Marie

Hi Marie, yes that stopped the entire world.
I’m sorry you are having such trouble.

Do the same workflows work using windows ? If not try going to user management tab and resetting the users workflow stage number to 0 and see if that works. That should put them back to the first stage, resetting the number may “fix” the workflow if they became corrupt during the testing.

Also if you can try the demo on wtf-fu.com/demo (you need to register for free first) that has the new (unreleased) patch in the same Mac / browsers. If this works then the next update will fix everything :).

If not send me login details via lynton at wtf-fu.com and I’ll try and see if I can detect anything, although I no longer have access to a mac now so this may not help.

    Hey Lynton,

Thank you for your kind words and the “je suis charlie”, that was really nice of you.

No, I tested them tonight on a PC with windows using chrome and IE and I was still stuck on the same step when clicking on next or previous.
I am currently trying to reset the users workflow stage number in the “Manage users” but I can’t seem to achieve it properly: when clicking on the checkbox on the line, deleting the stage number, writing “0” and clicking on apply/save, on refresh the stage number goes back to what it was before I tried to change it to zero. Is there another way to reset it?

The demo works in chrome 39.0.2171.99 and firefox 33.0.2 on old Mac OSX 10.6.8 (I no longer have access to the most recent mac I was using during the holidays where the problem with firefox appeared), not in safari 5.x : the ajax request does not go through and the lines of code appear on the screen. But the previous demo also worked in chrome and firefox in those versions (otherwise I wouldn’t have installed the plugin in the first place ;)) I will try to test it on the newest firefox version where the problem happened tomorrow and will keep you posted on the result. The good news is it works on iphone 4S with OS 7.1.1, I had not tested the previous demo version on iphone, I realized it did not work only after creating my own workflow, so you might have nailed the problem with iOS on mobile :)!!

Let me know regarding the reset procedure so that I can do the test properly, it’s 3am here so I am gonna get some rest but I will set you up a test account and minimal guide (as all the buttons and text are in french on the workflows on the website) and send you the info in the morning.

    Thank you for your help,

    Best,

    Marie

ok thanks for all your hard work Marie.

if the reset is not working it looks like those workflows may have gotten corrupt somehow. What you did, should have reset the stage number, so something is clearly not right here.

Are you able to edit the workflows ?, if so try editing and re-saving them at each stage, If still no good try to clone the workflow and see if that helps.

safari 5 will not work and I don’t think I can solve that one as the js component is not available on that platform. the only solution for that is a browser upgrade to safari 6.

I’ll have a look when you have had a sleep and send through account details. If you can trust me with an admin account that would help too.

Another thought is to export the workflow to a file and send me that so I can see if it looks corrupt. Although I can do that from here if I have admin access.

Another thought – What happens if you try the workflow as a different (new) user, does that work ?

    Hello Lynton,

Thank you for following up on this. I tried :
    – editing one workflow, saving it at each stage, and then opening it again with a user account for test purposes, but the problem remain the same.
    – cloning a workflow and testing, which did not work either.
    – creating a new user and trying a workflow, still no luck ??

I am going to set you up with a test account and an admin account, I hope you can find out what is happening, I really don’t get it.

    Crossing fingers!

ok, one more thing if you haven’t already tried. IF you create a new workflow now i.e, add a new copy of the demo , Does that work or does that get stuck too ?

I ask, to try and determine if ANY workflow works at all now.

Anyway I’ll look at your test site tomorrow, don’t worry I’m sure there will be a simple explanation.

    Hey,

I tried your last proposal and created a new workflow from scratch, but that did not work either ??

I just send you an email with all the info so that you can see it for yourself and hopefully figure it out ?? Let me know when you can.

    Thanks again,

Hi Marie, I had a look at your site,

The plugin itself is working. but something else is interfering with the display. If you click next then refresh the page (F5 key) then the next stage appears. It seems that some other plugin is “caching” the page and therefore the response is not being displayed when the ajax request returns.

Another user reported a similar problem when using “smart forms” on the same page as wtf-fu. They solved the issue by using a different forms plugin.

The admin password or username did not work for me so I could not look at the installed plugins but I don’t really need that now.

Try disabling other plugins one at a time until you find the culprit.
Suspect any forms or caching plugins first.

It could also be the theme, so also try a different theme is you can,

Its a matter of trial and error now to determine what is conflicting here.

Let me know what you find out.

    Hey Lynton,

Thank you for your feedback, sorry for admin access you need to replace your email with your ID, I just sent you an email.
The thing is I do not use any new plugin since I have installed yours, I do not use any form plugin on the workflows pages, I do not use any caching plugin at the moment and I haven’t changed my theme since the beginning (and therefore plugin install) or upgraded it, so I am not sure how that could be the source. I am gonna try disabling plugins anyway but it does not make sense at all.

    Something must have changed somewhere.
Perhaps an automatic theme or plugin update or a plugin that imports code from another site that has updated its implementation.

Look at anything that may be embedded in the same page as the workflow, or anything that may use ajax (eg forms plugin) , or anything that may full code from a 3rd party site (eg facebook /twitter links) .

If you have an offline copy then it might be best to test on that rather than upset any users.

When you find the offender I will install and try it here.

I just sent you a new email, I am reading the php file of the indicated problem (see screencaps in my email) right now and seeing that one is using ajax request and is actually used every where on my site, notably to make menus appear on different conditions depending on what users bought, I think the two issues are linked but I have no idea how to get this right. I do not have offline copy but the site is still in testing for two more weeks so no users to upset yet (otherwise I would have already thrown myself in the Seine!)

Thanks again for following up on this
