• Hi

I recently started looking after a news site with over 12,000 published posts and 8,000 pieces of media.

I really need to trim down the size of the site. The site’s largest source of traffic is organic so I am nervous about deleting old posts and the client likes to re-use media and therefore uses their media library like an asset database.

Does anyone have any advice on how to remove old articles without harming SEO? Is there any service I can use that would enable me to identify images that are not being used on pages?

Also, any advice about automating deletion would also be appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Jamie

Your post content is a drop in a bucket compared to your media.

If you want to preserve old content, but free up some space (and you don’t want to upgrade your host’s storage), just start deleting old media and keep the old posts up.
