• 2 questions:
    1) do you have a particular sales tax plugin that you recommend to use with EDD? Or does everyone actually hand enter all the info?

    2) Can I use (force?) EDD to sell non-digital products? I want to sell hardcopies of my books along with the digital ones. Obviously, it wouldn’t be automatic but could it be done? Sell a dummy token but collect their payment and information so I could send them a real book?

  • 1). We have taxes built into the core plugin, so usually there is no need for an add-on plugin for taxes.

2). Yes you can. We have a simple shipping extension specifically for that purpose: https://easydigitaldownloads.com/extensions/simple-shipping

You guys ROCK! So how do I access the sales tax stuff? And I will look into the add-on now.

    It’s in Downloads > Settings > Taxes.

Okay set up is super easy but when I go to make a purchase and put in my info (I live in a state where there is tax on e-books) there isn’t any tax added. Am I missing something? Oh and I bought your Simple Shipping add-on, thanks!

Could you show me a screenshot of your tax settings?

I’ve got one but how do I get it here? Can you email me at lisette @ lcgiroux Dot com? and I will send it to you. In short, Enable Taxes is checked, there is nothing in default tax rate, Base Country is US, state is WI, I’m entering prices without tax, and there is nothing in additional tax rates. Thanks!

Upload it to imgur.com and then share the link.

Here you go Pippin. Totally off topic but as a novelist, I love your name.

    Ha, thanks ??

In order for taxes to be charged, you need to specify the tax rates.

I recommend you set it up like this:

    1. Set default rate to 0
    2. Set base region to US / WI
    3. Add an additional rate for US / WI and set it to your state’s tax rate.

Gah! Set it up just like that, now it goes directly to paypal without the Checkout step (though I do have it set to direct check out so that may be on me.) But, there still isn’t any tax charged. I updated to the latest version also.

Set the Button Behavior option to “Add to Cart” instead of Buy Now.
