Hello, first all I’m sorry for my english.

I manage a little italian basketball and I’m using sportspress plugin for our site (https://www.albabasket.org/)
This will be the second season with this plugin and my problem is: a player, for example this https://www.albabasket.org/player/vallese-davide/, that in his settings had “2019/20” as season and “Under 16” as league, but today I need to put in his settings “2020/21” as season and “Under 18” as league and I would do it without lose the “historical”.
Is there a method to diversify between seasons?

    Thank you

  • Ciao,
devi andare nel profilo del giocatore e aggiungere la lega e la stagione.

You need to go to player profile and add the new season and the new league.

This isn’t my problem. Managing the same club, my problem is for players’ list (roster) between different seasons; for example, an under16’s player in 2019/20 become an under18’s Player in 2020/21. The problem exist because I would ‘archive’ the past seasons

    Hi there!

    Thanks for reaching out.

I think I’ve got what you mean.

I believe the easiest way to do this is to set your previous player list to “manual” instead of auto. Then you can select the players you want for it.

It will be a lot of manual work, but at least you’ll be able to do it.

The latest season data should work just fine with the “auto” mode.

    Thanks!

If the problem is in the player list, into that you can set which league, season and team the players are filtered from.
So if you have a list of the players in current season, you have to change the list.
Consider that the season can set up as “current” so you don’t need to change the player list every year, if the league stays the same.

    Hi Cesare!

    Thanks for your reply.

If I understood his problem correctly, it’s something like this:

    Player A is U16 in 2018/2019
In 2019/2020 this player moves to U18.

For the past stats to work correctly, this player needs to have U16 AND u18 in his profile. But there’s no way to tell which is the current division for him.

So if we create a new player list for U16 AND 2019/2020, this player is there, but he shouldn’t be.

    Thanks!

    I’m not sure.
but I think it does work.
If the problem is the statistics, you can choos for every season which team the player played for.
I have been testing the plugin since last season, we had a couple of players moving from our team to a different one (luckyly also from other teams to ours).

So, for example, this player who played for us last year and now plays for another team would be managed this way

For the player list, you have to add a filter on team or league. It is working for me… you can tell the player list to use “current season” so you don’t need to update that every year, unless the player changes the team.
In my mind I figured it out not to call the team as the leaague the player plays because ti changes quite often. I call the team with the name of the team + year of birth, that wouldn’t change.

    this way

For the statistics there isn’t problem: work fine, there is all ok!
The problem is for “player’s list” or simply the roster, the player A in U16 league in the 2019/20 season. At the moment, I think that the solution is manual setting as @rochesterj said ??

Yea, if I understood the issue correctly, manual lists are the best way around.

Not ideal, for sure, but it should work.

We could consider a more “strict” relationship for season/league so player lists can load only these specific overlaps. But that would increase the workload in the general setup for all users, so I’m not sure if that’s a good solution.

    Thanks!

    Not sure.
what about having a new league every year, even if it is the same?
If your player would be in a new league every year, let’s say “Serie A – 2019-2020” and the next year will be “Serie A – 2020-2021”, you should be able to have it working. Or not?
You should be able to have always your list available as soon as all yur players are also in the right league.
    Would it work?

Naming “U16” league as “U16 20/21” league could be a good workaround for the future
    @cesarewp ??

That’s a great idea! Thanks for your help, cesarewp .
