I am getting the same IP and location detail for all the emails when a user submits form from different countries. I updated the GeoIP Detection plugin to version 3.0.1 and also created the license key for that. I updated the contact form lead info plugin to the latest version of 2.2 but still getting the constant IP address and IP details for all emails.

Hi there. This happens normally if you are behind a PROXY / FIREWALL. Could you try to insert in the Contact Form message the variable: [_remote_ip] and see what IP is shown when you complete a contact form. This variable is one of the standard variables of Contact Form 7: Contact Form 7 Special mail-tags. Let’s see what IP you get there.

    Best regards from Spain.

Thanks for your quick response. But I am getting the same IP address even after including the [_remote_ip] in the message body.

    contact form lead details message:
    IP: 69.175.81.127
Country: United States (US – NA)
    Browser is: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 9; RMX1801) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/80.0.3987.132 Mobile Safari/537.36

after including the [_remote_ip] in the message body.
    69.175.81.127

This is happening for me starts from last week.

Ok. We wanted you to check this because if you receive the same IP with the [_remote_ip] this normally has something to do with the hosting of the site. Maybe it’s behind a Proxy or a Firewall which doesn’t pass the IP information. So you could ask the website host.

It can also have something to do with DO NOT TRACK enabled in the browser that masks the IP. Have you tried another browser and receive the same IP?

    Best regards from Spain.

Yeah, I just submitted the form from my mobile and got the same IP address. The plugin was working fine until last week and I have been facing this issue from the past week. Is that related to the plugin update and also about the GDPR policies? Because I have updated the GeoIP Detection plugin and created the license for that. Do I need to update any options in the GeoIP Detection plugin to resolve this issue before seeking help from the hosting service provider?

With our plugin this has nothing to do because we haven’t changed anything that could lead to this problema.

You could also try to use the GeoIP shortcode in the Contact Form 7 email text: [geoip_detect2_user_info] and see what result you get with it. If it’s the same or not.

I tried [geoip_detect2_user_info] and getting the same IP details.

    IP: 69.175.81.127
Country: United States (US – NA)
    Browser is: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/80.0.3987.149 Safari/537.36 ———— contact form lead deatils

    IP of the user: 69.175.81.127
    Country: United States ———— [geoip_detect2_user_info]

Data from: GeoLite2 City database (updated weekly)

    69.175.81.127 ———— [_remote_ip]

Then it looks like a change at your hosting company. We would try contacting them as we can’t do much more to help you.

    Best regards from Spain.
