Same SKU different titles

  • Hi! I would like to know if it’s possible to have two products’pages that have the same SKU (because basically they are the same products which can be applied in two different categories of products) but with different product’s title?

    To be more understandable, let’s assume that I sell a ball (SKU 001). This ball can be both in Football’s Balls and Basketball’s Ball. I want the ball with SKU 001 on the first category to be displayed as “Football CL Ball” and on the second category “Basketball EU Ball”. Is it possible?

    SKUs need to be unique so no. You can either (in your example):

    1. have SKU 001-football SKU 001-basketball OR
    2. One product with SKU 001 in both categories with name Football/Basketball CL Ball

    I made an experiment and used the same SKU and it worked fine. But maybe I should follow your advice.

    Unsure how you set them, but WC validates for unique sku on save.

    I made an order also and the stock of the one product reduced right. I don’t know, I followed your advice in order to avoid any future problems. If you like I can do that again and sent you some pics!

    I’m wondering how you actually set the SKU to be the same on two products?
