• Hi All

I have installed ok and have been messing around making a new theme but I have no entries yet, is there a sample database that can be installed that uses all possible elements that I could use to test the layout of my theme ??

    Thx in advance.

  • Not to my knowledge, but you can install a package called XAMPP on your own computer which lets you use wordpress without the need to upload files via FTP. That way you can make as many changes as you like and mess about to your heart’s content and it won’t mess up your live version.

Google around for Xampp, I’m afraid I don’t have the address.

Yup thanks, I have wordpress running fine, when i say “sample database” i mean the content (blog entries) not LAMP software.

You could just borrow the posts from the themeviewer https://themes.wordpress.net/

Make sure not to steal their image though

cool how do I get the data then ??

Since you were sitting here and waiting for answers… you could have made 3-4 test posts with all the necessary tags and items in them, a few pages, test comments etc.

No, there is no “ready made” sample database, AFAIK.

the idea was that you grabbed their post code and plopped it into your own.

I used the contact form on the themeviewer to ask the owner to make a dump of testrun. Perhaps someone can host it for the rest of us?
