    Hi, since I runned the tool for data updater, the Save Quiz button doesn’t work anymore and my Quiz settings are gone. I tried re installing the plugin and clearing entire cache, problem still there. Thank you for your help.

    thank you for starting a new thread.

    First, why did you run the data upgrade tool? Did you upgrade from version 1.7 or lower? Because if you were already on the 1.8x version, then running the updater again is probably what caused this issue for you…

    However, if you were upgrading from <1.7, then know that upgrading does not modify or delete your old quiz data in any way, so you can also always revert back to a previous version of HD Quiz here (download link is at the bottom of the page). So if you just need to get back up and running ASAP, then you can always temporarily downgrade until we are able to track down the issue for you.

    From the other thread, what I need you to do is the following.

    From the quiz settings page press F12. This will open up your browser console (make sure that “console” is selected when the new window opens). This will display any JavaScript errors on your site. Once this is open, try and save quiz settings and let me know what errors appear there. The issue is likely that there is a fatal error somewhere else on your site that is stopping new data from being saved.

    Yes I had already the 1.8 version, but the save results light add-on wasn’t working at all, so i decided to update. The Save button is unclickable, so maybe it’s not really a saving data issue. If there is something I could change in the database you can tell me and I will change it. I did F12 and there is no errors.

    I think I have an idea.

    You ran the quiz data upgrade tool when you weren’t supposed to. Because of this, your quiz settings got scrambled/corrupt, which is causing the quiz settings page to not fully load.

    The data upgrade tool states

    This tool is only needed for users upgrading from HD Quiz 1.7 or lower.

    But I’ll amend it for the next version of HD Quiz to also give an extra warning to NOT run the tool if already on 1.8x. Hopefully that will discourage anyone else in your situation from making this mistake and save someone from the same issue in the future.

    Something to try that will A) get this fixed for you (although in a roundabout way), and B) prove my theory.

    Create a new quiz, and set the quiz settings to whatever you want, and save.

    Did it save OK? If the new quiz settings save OK, then this pretty much confirms that the issue is that your old quiz settings are corrupt which is what is causing the issue. You can then use the “BULK MODIFY QUESTIONS” to add your existing questions to the new quiz, and delete the old quizzes once done.

    Please let me know if the above works and let me know how many quizzes / questions you’d need to do this with.

    Great! Glad we figured it out.

    BONUS:
    I just did a test to replicate the issue on a dev site, and was able to.

    When I re-ran the upgrade tool, I also corrupted the settings. The good news is that simply resetting the settings will allow it to save agian.

    I think the reason you were unable to save is that not all of the “required fields” had data in your quiz settings. For example, “Quiz Pass Percentage” needs to be a number above 0. So if it’s not too late, try to edit your existing quiz and make sure that Quiz Pass Percentage has a value above 0 and see if the save button works. Might be a bit faster for you than creating a new quiz from scratch.

    As for the save results light addon, please send me a link to a working quiz once you can and I’ll take a look to see if there is another plugin or something blocking the connection.

    Great! it works when I change Quiz Pass Percentage, thanks for your quick help and for this appreciated plugin.
