• HI,

It seems as though the user profile and registration detail is saved to the default wordpress user table. Is there a way to change this configuration so that all user and profile data is saved to a MySQL database where i can then create custom searches against all the users as well as allow my site to grow over and above the limits of the default user table.
    Thanks in advance

  • What limits are there to the default user table and why can’t you run queries on it?

I dont know what the limits are but presumably there will be over and above what MySQL can manage. I have been trying to use Search and Filter which doesn’t work against the user table and if we decided to move later to a different solution extracting the tables from MySQL would be (presumably) much easier from something like MySQL than it would default user table.

Sorry, you’ve lost me (not trying to be a smartarse by the way, genuine questions and certainly no expert in this just curious as to what the problem is) but the default user table is MySQL (or possibly Maria).

How are you trying to run queries on it? This plugin I assume: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/search-filter/

Just read something in another thread that “might” be relevant:

“Custom Table metadata include all metadata which we use in Ultimate Member. We recommend using the Custom Table metadata in cases when your hosting locks WP native queries (a lot of the filters, search)”

Not sure exactly what he means, but sounds like switching to Custom Table metadata could be worth a try for your issue.

Thanks for your help Diabolo but no i think this link is in reference to custom fields within a form using custom metadata.
My issue is that Ultimate Member does what i need in terms of profiles but i need a customisation search tool to search different aspects of a profile and the best i have seen is Search and Filter. However search and filter does not work with the standard WP user table it only works with MySQL and other eternal DBs. It seems as though UM dont support anything other than the default user table so i am a impasse.
I will ask on a few forums for recommendations i think

Given your new thread (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/best-search-plugin-10/) getting more of an idea what you’re looking for.

Does the inbuilt filters not do what you need? You can search/filter on any profile field you have added:

UM > Member Directories > Edit > Search Options > Enable Filters Feature > Add whatever profile field you want

Interesting… I did look at their search options in settings but haven’t seen this. I will play with it now thank you for being so helpful..!
