Saved my bacon!

  • Thank you for creating such a useful plugin!
    It installed without problems. I tried to create my first sandbox and it failed with an error half way through. I got quite nervous at this point but on a hunch tried again with a shorter name – sandbox. This worked! So possibly there is an issue with two word names or spaces in the name?
    But once created the sandbox has been amazing. I’ve upgraded my theme, wordpress to 3.9 and woocommerce to 2.1.7 in the sandbox and am debugging multiple issues. But the main site works fine so the stress levels are low!

    My tips are…
    Keep the sandbox name short
    Check on a shared hosting that you have enough spare disk space to duplicate your site in the sandbox
    Clear the browser cache when switching between sandbox and live site

    Would recommend this to anyone wanting to test upgrades safely before going live.

    I would now add the comment that I am experiencing some issues with WordPress 3.9.1 running in the sandbox picking up 3.5.2 files in the live directory for the visual editor. This may be down to something i’m doing or maybe the leap in WordPress versions is too great and sandbox needed to run in a later version of WordPress?
    But either way it makes testing in the sandbox unreliable at present as I don’t know which are problems with upgrade testing and which are problems with the test environment.
    I’m hoping the author will comment in the support thread as this plugin is potentially incredibly useful for testing and is very easy to use.
