Saving a Theme

    I’m still a beginner. Can someone please explain how to save a theme from the WordPress Theme Directory so that it shows up in my themes. I follow the prompts but I only get as far as having saved it on my external hard drive. I don’t know what to do from there. I’m trying to save Magazine Basic.

  • You have to upload the theme and install it.

    After the file is on your computer, you have to upload it to the WordPress folder wp-content/themes

    If you don’t have a program to FTP files, you can either get FileZilla

    or use the File Manager program in your webhosting control panel.

    Thanks guys. I just tried uploading to my File Manager and I got about 6 error/warning messages. Thoughts? Yup, I’m a beginner alright ?? Thanks. Karen

    Where is your document root? In other words, where is wp-config.php?

    I have no idea. I think I’m going to phone a help desk. This “easy” blogging is killing me.
    Thank you for all your help. You guys are great. This stuff is just over my head ??
