    Hello,

I am getting the message “Saving is disabled due to media currently being uploaded” while making a new web story. It has been over 2 hours since I uploaded any media, and I have refreshed the page several times, and even tried to open and save it in a new browser. No matter how I approach it, I get that same message. When I make any changes, they are not saved at all.

    How can I resolve this?

  • Hello @oldworldnewgirl and thanks for getting in touch. Sorry to hear you are having issues with your Web Stories. This message can display when uploaded media to a Web Story is being optimised in the background.

This could also be the result of a plugin conflict so to help assist you further with this would you please be able to provide the following information:

    1. Your Site Health information or You can share privately if you prefer via this form.
    2. Are you seeing any console errors in the browser when this message is displayed?

Once I have this information I can provide you with next steps.

Hi Adam, I have submitted all info via the form. Thank you! – Addie

Hi @oldworldnewgirl thanks for providing the information. It looks like you are missing the Site Health Information from the form you have provided.

Can you please copy the full contents using “Tools > Site Health > info > Copy site info to clipboard” and paste the results in here, or in a new form?

ok, I’m not sure why it didn’t show, I was sure I pasted it. I’ve resubmitted with the site check. Thank you!

@oldworldnewgirl thanks for providing the information I can now see the Site Health. You have a number of plugins active on your site so it would be worth ruling out any plugin conflicts here causing this. Would you be able to follow the instructions below and let me know if you find any conflicts:

Use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable its troubleshooting mode. This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely because it only affects the experience of the logged-in user.

    • Please enable the Web Stories plugin and let me know if you still get the issue.
    • Enable plugins and your theme one by one in this mode may help pinpoint if something else is involved.
    • Note you can disable troubleshooting mode from the plugins page.

This won’t affect what any users to your site will see and will rule out any theme or plugin conflicts.

    Hi Adam,
The issue still occurs even when Web Stories is the only plugin that is turned on during troubleshooting mode.

    Hi Adam,

I deleted the most recent videos that I uploaded that seemed like they were uploaded just fine, and the issue went away.

@oldworldnewgirl thanks for confirming this and glad you have found a solution. It’s possible that something interrupted the upload process the first time causing the editor to not allow saving because it waiting for the upload to complete.

We will run further checks on our side to see if there is anything we can do to stop these occurrences but glad you are now able to save your stories.

Please do let us know if you have any further questions.
