Saving large menus return to 404, whereas small menus won't

  • Hi, I have a problem saving wordpress nav menus. I have two menus, one for top and one for the bottom. The top menu is big (not soo big, just about 20-25 items). And when I want to save it, it takes to a 404 not found page. But when I save the smaller menu, its saved without any error.

    I have modified the max input vars, input time etc in php.ini file, hope that those would help. But no. Can anyone please assist me? Thanks.

    I have not experienced this before, but I have a couple of suggestions:

    -Maybe it’s a plugin conflict? Try disabling some of your plugins and see if you have any better luck saving your larger menu.
    -Try deleting and re-making your larger menu.
    -Try flipping over to a different theme and see if the 404 persists.

    I know none of these fix your immediate problem, but they may help you drill down towards a solution!

    Thanks. I tried flushing plugin folder, and then activating plugins one by one, but it didn’t help. I even tried to switch to the default theme, that didn’t help either. The problem is still existing.

    Hi, did anyone find a solution to this? I am experiencing the same exact problem.

    Also having this problem! when I save it takes ages and then times out to a 404 or 500 error.

    I’ve tried changing permalinks back to default bit no luck. Help please WP!
